Suspect Arrested in Connection to Death of 6-Month-Old

Robert Daily III, 26, has been charged with murder and one count child abuse causing death, according to police. Police say Daily was arrested after trying to evade officers.

Information from the Alameda County Sheriff's Office--

On July 29, 2013, Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to the 2400 block of Buena Vista Avenue, in unincorporated Livermore, for report of an unresponsive infant. The six-month-old baby boy was transported to Valley Care Medical Center in Pleasanton.

Based on the extent of the internal head injuries, the infant was transferred to the University of California San Francisco Medical Center where the child was placed in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Doctors notified law enforcement officials the baby suffered from non-accidental head trauma. The child was pronounced dead on August 1, 2013.

As a result of the investigation, Sheriff’s Office Investigators determined the father of the child, 26-year-old Robert Daily III, of Livermore, was responsible for the trauma. The criminal case was submitted to the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office who charged Robert Daily III with murder and one count child abuse causing death.

Daily was arrested on August 8, 2013, by the Livermore Police Department on the 2100 block of Paseo Laguna Seco, in the City of Livermore. Daily attempted to evade the Livermore Police Department as they approached the vehicle he was hiding in. Daily ultimately surrendered and was safely taken into custody after a brief chase.

Daily is currently in custody at Santa Rita Jail being held without bond.
