Sunnyvale Man Arrested, Charged with Child Sexual Abuse of Livermore Girl
Convicted sex offender Jesus Vega Jr., 71, was arrested for allegedly molesting a 6-year-old Livermore girl.
Livermore Police detectives arrested a 71-year-old convicted sex offender last Thursday after police say he molested a 6-year-old girl. According to police, Jesus Vega Jr. of Sunnyvale, was an acquaintance of the girl who lives in Livermore. Vega Jr. has prior convictions for sexual abuse from April of 1989.
Police say Vega Jr. was given an 8-year prison sentence for the 1989 conviction for three sexual abuse charges of 288(a) PC.
The investigation of the alleged molestation of the Livermore girl began on Jan. 18 and the case was sent to the Alameda County District Attorney's Office on Jan. 23.
An arrest warrant was issued by the District Attorney and police detectives arrested Vega Jr. in Sunnyvale on Jan. 23. Vega Jr. was booked into Santa Clara County Jail and faces a felony charge of 288.5 PC— Engaging in 3 or more acts of substantial sexual conduct with a child under the age of 14.
