UPDATE: School Bus With 8 Children Onboard Involved in Collision

One person sustained minor injuries during the collision, although it is not known if it was a bus passenger or one of the occupants of the other two cars involved.

Updated at 5:10 p.m. with a statement released from Kelly Bowers, Superintendent of Livermore Valley Joint Unified Schools—This morning, near the corner of Olivina and Murietta, we received word of a "minor fender bender," according to officers at the scene, which primarily involved a truck and another car, which then pushed into a Durham bus, while transporting some of our students to school. I would like to confirm that none of our students were injured.

Parents of student bus passengers were notified.  All students were released  to go on to school soon after the incident.

The Board and  entire District are appreciative of the immediate response and timely communications from our Livermore Police Department and emergency personnel, as we all work together to keep our youth safe while on our campuses and also while enroute to and from school.

I would also like to take this opportunity to encourage everyone to be mindful of safety and traffic rules  over this busy and festive holiday season, to ensure we all remain safe and sound.

A school bus with eight children on board was involved in a crash with two other cars in Livermore this morning, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The crash was reported shortly before 7:55 a.m. near Murrieta and Stanley boulevards.

At least one person suffered minor injuries in the crash, CHP Officer Ron Simmons said. He did not know if the injury was to someone on the bus or in one of the other cars.

CHP officers remained at the scene this morning, Simmons said. The highway patrol investigates all collisions in the state involving school buses.
