Police Log: Best Buy Worker Explains 'Accidental' Kidnapping

Rash of home break-ins, and more incidents from June 9 to 15.

It was all a big misunderstanding.

That’s what a Fremont man accused of sneaking into a 16-year-old girl’s car, forcing her at knifepoint to drive to a remote location and ordering her to strip said in court documents, according to media reports.

Aron Kumar Roy, 23, who was arrested June 10 at his Dublin Best Buy workplace, while he was waiting on a customer, was arraigned Wednesday on multiple charges including kidnapping, kidnapping with the intent to commit rape, robbery and possession of cocaine in connection to the incident, said the Fremont Police Department.

According to Fremont Argus, Roy said he entered the wrong car and laid down. When the victim returned, he sat up and the victim “freaked out.”

However, the victim alleges that Roy snuck into the backseat of her unlocked car while she was inside the Fremont Brookvale Shopping Center Lucky store around 7 a.m. June 10.

As she was driving away, Roy emerged from the backseat and held a knife to her arm. He gave her turn-by-turn directions, leading her to an area near Isherwood Way and Chaplin Drive.

According to Argus, Roy asked the victim if she was a virgin and told her to remove her clothes when she parked.

The girl managed to remove her seatbelt and flee toward a home on Dominici Drive where a resident phoned police.

Roy, who has two prior DUIs, was identified as a suspect after his fingerprints were found on the rear passenger door of the victim’s car, according to Argus.

Cell phone tower data also shows that Roy’s cell phone was in the Lucky’s parking lot from 6:25 a.m. to 6:55 a.m. Six minutes later, his phone pinged a tower near the area where the victim’s car was found, Argus reports.

Roy was arrested that evening at Dublin Best Buy, where he worked as a  sales rep.

Police searched Roy’s home where they found cocaine and a Viagra pill inside hoodie that he allegedly wore during the kidnapping.

Investigators also found that Roy’s computer’s history included searches for “rape, sleep, porn” and his cell phone contained recently downloaded porn videos simulating violent rape situations, according to the Argus

Anyone with information about this incident or Roy is encouraged to call Fremont Detective Bryce Loughery at 510-790-6912, Detective Rodney Little at 510-790-6900 or the anonymous tip line at 510-494-4856.  Tips can also be submitted viawww.fremontpolice.org/tip.
