Police Investigating Bank Robbery

Police confirm reports that a bank was robbed Wednesday in Livermore.

The Chase Bank on North Vasco Road was robbed on Wednesday afternoon, according to Livermore police.

Officers responded to the bank at 2:31 p.m. and were told the suspects were last seen running northbound from the area.

Police have provided the following descriptions of the suspects via witness statements:

  • #1: Black male adult in his 20s with short hair, about 5’9” tall, clothed in a white t-shirt and shorts. The male was carry a purple bag or bandanna.
  • #2: Black male adult in his 20s with short hair, clothed in a black t-shirt with gold imprint and blue jeans.

No weapons were displayed during the robbery and no injuries were reported, police said.

Wednesday's incident is the second reported robbery at the bank this year.

In March, police say a man who robbed the bank made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Meanwhile, Pleasanton police are also investigating a Tuesday bank robbery where two suspects entered the Chase Bank at 5800 Stoneridge Mall Road.

Here are the suspect descriptions provided by police:

  • Suspect #1 is described as a black male adult 20-25 years old shaved head, no facial hair, 5’8’’ tall 150-180 pounds.
  • Suspect #2 is described as a black male adult 20-30 years old, short black hair, with a scruffy beard, 5’06” tall and 150-180 pounds.

Livermore Patch will update this story as more information is made available.

This bank was just robbed earlier this year in March. They seriously need better security and more patrolling at this end of town.

That info wasn't posted in the article when he posted his comment. It wasn't there when I posted mine below either.

That CHASE branch is an easy target, because of location ,crooks can egress either North or South, or loop on local streets to join I-580 East or Westbound at Bluebell/Springtown Blvd. or directley from Vasco.---escape options are numerous. Maybe more hi def cameras in and outside would help post facto. Bank policy is basically designed to minimize the risk to employees and customers i.e. give 'em cash !

wow good guess...

"No weapons were displayed in the robbery" - Wait, I'm confused. Doesn't robbing imply some sort of knife, gun, etc. was used to threaten the attendant. I never imagined a robber walking into a bank, "Gimme your money or I'll punch you in the face!"
Mr. Pickles October 03, 2012 at 11:52 PM
I bet somehow, somewhere there is some connection to Oakland in this dastardly crime. They got alot of running to do before they get there with the loot. Somebody got to chase after Chase's money. And quick!
Kirk Snyder October 04, 2012 at 12:30 AM
Nolan, please do not show your ignorance. If you knew anything at all you would realize that robbery is the felonious taking of personal property in the possession of another, from his person or immediate presence, and against his will, accomplished by means of force or fear. The fear may be either the fear of an unlawful injury to the person or property of the person robbed, or of any relative of his or member of his family or, the fear of an immediate and unlawful injury to the person or property of anyone in the company of the person robbed at the time of the robbery. So, yes, "Gimme your money or I'll punch you in the face!" is a robbery. DUH !

Wake up European Americans. The African Americans want your money. The Asian Americans want your jobs. The Mexican Americans have your jobs.

No weapons? WTF? Doesn't sound too threatening to me. 5' 6' 150-180 lbs. Migets! Oops, excuse me,...little people. Hey, Daniel G, you'll like this one... Maybe they should install bullet proof glass like the banks in Oakland! LOL!
K October 04, 2012 at 01:46 AM
Man I just opened an account there too. I'm pretty sure that's the third time they got robbed because I remember they got robbed I think the opening day also or opening week. And Bart should come to Livermore reddoglead. Has Dublin or Pleasanton had major problems since they got Bart, No so I don't think we would either. At least the cops would have something to do if anything did happen anyways. And ya they really need a security guard over there like Bank of America has on first street.
Mr. Pickles October 04, 2012 at 01:48 AM
Good idea @ Scott T. I will speak to my bank's manager a see if he can Oaklandize the bank so this sort of thing won't happen. If somebody was smart they sell bars on peoples windows. This Oaklandization thing is really going to catch on now that Barts coming to town.

A notorious bank robber when once asked why he robbed banks replied "because that is where they keep the money".
Bob Canning October 04, 2012 at 03:49 AM
I went to a bank in Oakland and when my cell phone rang, the security guard ran over and told me I had to leave. The guy in line ahead of me was carrying a gun. The guard did not say a word to him. In Oakland you are better off with a gun than a phone.
Bob F. October 04, 2012 at 04:49 AM
The note is sufficient for a robbery. It usually says, "I have a gun. This is a bank robbery. Give me all your money." If I was a nineteen year old female teller, looking down the barrel of a gun or the threat of having one, would make me want to comply and certainly feeling I was robbed.

This is 2012. I hope you get busted and end up in prison with the "Booty Bandit". He rapes all the new inmates and I saw him testify on the stand. He gave the prosecutor his prison nick name, "Booty Bandit", like he was filling out a card for Toys r Us.

The Vasco branch was robbed back in March. They caught the suspect shortly after in a traffic violation.
Lisa October 04, 2012 at 05:42 AM
That's apocryphal. Willie Sutton, to whom it is attributed, swore he never said it. Great quote, probably not true.
mike October 04, 2012 at 03:47 PM
Counterfeit! well what he admitted saying was that the reason he robbed banks was because "He loved it" and "it made him feel alive"
DIXIE October 04, 2012 at 10:27 PM
Pleasanton Chase bank was robbed yesterday as well. Suspects caught on tape appear to similar to the suspectes described above!!! Hmmmmmmmmm??

Gee. Two black males robbing a bank in the European American neighborhood. Who would have guessed?
Non racist Republican October 06, 2012 at 07:06 PM
How sad! I never thought there were so many racists in our little quaint town of Livermore. Shame on all of you for stereotyping and being malicious. There are BAD people in the world and they come in all colors. Please keep your negative racial comments to yourselves. Who knows where they came from? Let's focus on solving the crime and bringing the BAD guys to justice instead of worrying about their color or from what city they live.
Californicated1 October 06, 2012 at 07:19 PM
What is a "non-racist Republican" these days other than a "Democrat"? Considering the turn the GOP took to woo those folks unhappy with the Civil Rights Movements in the 1960s and the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, wooing "Dixiecrats" and other hateful people who either believed or benefited from the great racial divisions of this country since Colonial Times, there really is no such thing as a "non-racist Republican". All of the Republicans out there, from registered voters to even office holders of publicly elected and appointed positions, are "racist" by the very definitions of what it means to be "Republican" these days and supporting platforms that engender discrimination, from overt and covert raced-based notions like requiring everybody to submit identification to vote, which is usually done when people show up at the polling place to vote, anyway, to requiring literacy tests and even restricting how one can register to vote. And when I see and hear Republicans espousing their party's political platforms and agendas, I can't help but ask how much collusion, collaboration and even compromise went into each member's belief systems to accept such platforms in the first place. So when I see the words "non racist Republican" arranged in that matter, I really have to question how these words are used here given what the GOP has given us since the days of Barry Goldwater running for President in 1964.
Californicated1 October 06, 2012 at 07:30 PM
And for all you "Democrats" out there, don't think you are "Scot-Free" from all of this rancor and scorn, either. Between your machine politics and the picking up of the scraps that the Republicans would not pick up and use themselves, you have basically turned into another group whose political ambitions are based on demogoguery and fear, much like the tools your political opponents used. If the GOP politicians come off as unsympathetic, the "Democratic" politicians take the opposite view and become "bleeding hearts" in the hope that this "sympathy" will pay out on election day. And if the GOP politician comes off as sympathetic to the people's wants and needs, then their "Democratic" counterpart comes off the opposite. And time and again we have seen that here in local politics, dealing from issues like the PG&E pipeline ruptures in San Bruno and in the Sacramento area to even cracking down on non-issues like getting Craigslist to stop hosting ads for sex that could be construed as either "human trafficking" or "prostitution". Guess, these folks are still doing their advertising, not only on Backpage--which is owned by Village Voice/New Times Media, but still on Craigslist--just masked as something else. There's been too much "sweeping issues under the rug" and "kicking the can down the road" and not enough direct action out of the "Democrats", and they accuse the Republicans of doing the same thing.
Californicated1 October 06, 2012 at 09:30 PM
These folks must think that there is "money" here. There isn't. And besides, robbing a bank these days is more of an inconvenience when you get right down to it. Since depositors' accounts are covered by FDIC, the bank can more than make up for the loss incurred when these folks took to their robbing CitiBank, who in turn probably "robbed" somebody else, especially when they took over Washington Mutual and short-changed those folks that invested in the bank or deposited their assets. As long as nobody got physically hurt, as are as the bank is concerned and the people in there are concerned, we can probably take comfort that this did not turn up worse, like when some guy in Body Armor and Military-Grade weaponry decided that he wanted to take down a BofA Branch out there in the LA Ramparts and even the police could not take him down without much effort. If and when that ever starts happening in Livermore, or any other neighborhood here in the Bay Area, especially out there near Colusa Way and Sutter Street, then start worrying.
