NFL Star Marshawn Lynch Arrested For Suspected DUI

Seattle Seahawks running back booked into Dublin's Santa Rita Jail after being arrested in Oakland.

Seattle Seahawks star and Bay-Area hometown hero Marshawn Lynch was arrested Saturday in Oakland for allegedly driving under the influence, according to the Alameda County Sheriff's Office.

Oakland-native Lynch, 26, who two days earlier presented a scholarship to an Oakland gunshot victim, was arrested by the California Highway Patrol and booked at the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin, said Sgt. Ray Kelly of the sheriff's department.

County records indicate he was cited for the charges and released on Sunday.

Lynch has six years of pro-football experience. He was drafted as a rookie in 2007 to the Buffalo Bills, after finishing his college career at the University of California, Berkeley where he was the school's second all-time career rusher with 3,230 yards, according to sports reports.

On Thursday, Lynch, along with San Francisco 49ers quarterback Josh Johnson, presented in an emotional ceremony before a crowd of 200 people a $500 scholarship to college-bound Oakland gunshot victim Gerald Williams, according to reports.

How many other people were arrested today for DUI, thousands I bet I want thier names too. The Lawyers, Doctors, Mangers, Clerks I want them all listed. The media pay bartenders and I know factual some bartenders call the police in some cases. So I want everyone that had a drink to be stopped.

Wow. How absolutely generous he is. It's just shocking when you think of his donation. Or shocking, I mean, when you consider he made $7.75 MILLION last season, and donated a measly $500...what a cheap ass. Let's do the math, Marshawn, since I'm about positive you wouldn't be able to--especially if you're still blowing a 0.19. Your donation was 0.0064% of your salary (yes, that's correct with the decimal; it's not 0.64%) And if you figure two dildos donated that money, it's half of that. But continue being a classless jerk, Cheap Beast--after a couple more arrests, you'll be out of the league and will need all the money you can scrape up. Maybe move back to Buffalo and make a living stealing from cops' wives in restaurants. Fans, if you didn't realize he's such a dirt bag, investigate a bit longer.

This is sad. Just sad. We constantly hear of professional athletes being arrested. Immediate thoughts; 1)Thank Goodness they do not do this with construction workers, lawyers, doctors, mechanics, etc. 2) What the h-ll was he thinking? I thought I just read where the NFLPA still has a free(?) ride service in place, for all teams. 3) He had better be single. 4) This is sad. It is a reflection of the rest of US, and it reflects upon us. These are our Knights in Shining Armor? What do I know, jmo.

The color of his skin has nothing to do with it. He's human, he made a mistake and luckily didn't hurt anybody in the process.
B July 17, 2012 at 05:57 AM
How much did you donate?

Dave Van R July 17, 2012 at 09:29 AM
What an example these black athletes set for the children that idolize them

I wonder if they could print an article about pro football players who werent arrested for something.
Kenny Adamczyk July 17, 2012 at 12:01 PM
At least he didn't hit someone like when he was in Buffalo
Ijsmaan July 17, 2012 at 12:12 PM
Why don't you hook-up with Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and Eric Holder. These BUMS, along with yourself, should be able to stir-up something racially motivated. Get a life looser!!!
Mark Pinto July 17, 2012 at 01:26 PM
Every week the PGA tour donates MILLIONS to local charities in the areas where the tournaments are held. The NFL donates SO little compared to the vast millions generated each season. I laugh when at half time they mention a 15 thousand dollar scholarship!!!! Race aside, Marshaun gets into way too much trouble.......

Was this before or after his Family 1st football camp that was held in Oakland to support youth, that same day? What a shame...
Kevin Anderson July 17, 2012 at 02:58 PM
This isn't the first time hes been arrested for this , When he started playing in Buffalo he was arrested for DUI, but because he was their "Star Rookie" running back, they somehow got the charges brushed under the table, It bothers me that famous people get so many chances, This guy needs to be put in jail before he kills someone!
Jill R.N. July 17, 2012 at 03:43 PM
These racial comments are really very sad. Check the statistics on alcoholism and alcohol-related accidents and deaths. The majority of these people are not "black". It's difficult for me to believe that our society has not progressed beyond such ignorance. Being black, brown, beige or red matters not. An @$$h01e is an @$$h01e and the more racially charged posts I read, the more @$$h01e prove that fact. Grow the heck up people. We are ALL members of the "HUMAN" race. Get it?
Les Hendrickson July 17, 2012 at 04:02 PM
Only brain dead morons drive drunk. Which explains why they're drinking in the first place. I think ALL vehicles should be equipped with breathalizers. It would eliminate these uncaring asses completely.
Les Hendrickson July 17, 2012 at 04:08 PM
Amen, brother!
Nancy Reeves July 17, 2012 at 05:12 PM
Wow!! I'm blown away at some of these comments. My first thought last night when hearing about this was,"and these are the type of role models parents encourage their kids to admire." Never should it be said,or assumed that ALL athletes are @$$holes,but some yes,do take advantage of the status that comes with it. And of course having LOTS OF $$$ does help bail them out when in trouble!! Yes this young man has made some bad decisions, drinking and driving more than once, and should have the same consequences as any other DUI person. Money should NOT talk!! NFL should not let him play!! I think that all athletes have a higher standard that they should HAVE TO ABIDE BY, and it needs to be in their contract. If broken they're out of there!! This same should be for actors, actresses, and politicians. We the people are the ones that ultimately pay them by going to the games, seeing their movies, and watching them on TV. Famous people getting away with breaking the law will never change.
Mike S July 17, 2012 at 05:51 PM
Why isn't this block being monitored like the others? The editor does not read any of the above comments as being derogatory? As long as you are using racial terms agains an African American the editors deem it's ok.
Mike S July 17, 2012 at 05:54 PM
Why do athletes have to abide by a higher standard than the average person? Should all DUI suspects be suspended from their jobs? If you don't like the working rules of the NFL, don't watch it, don't purchase sponsoring products. Lesbian organizations have banded together to support a causes in the past.

The attached article really says it all: http://sports.yahoo.com/news/marshawn-lynch-joins-nfl-arrest-parade-fan-reaction-124800847--nfl.html
B July 17, 2012 at 07:23 PM
Since I don't drink I still will have a breathalyzer in my car? If it saved lives I would do it but it couldn't eliminate the problem completely. . .
Cherry July 18, 2012 at 03:23 AM
These entitled behaviors start early on in athletes. I have witnessed time & time again coaches, parents & administrators letting athletes get away with anything & everything. Bad grades, drugs, alcohol, violence & many more indiscretions. All the while less talented but moral athletes left to sit on the bench. I've seen it at every level. I have no respect for most coaches (goes for parents & admins as well) I have ever met. The good ones are few & far between.

why doesnt he hire a damn driver? Isn't he a gazillionaire???
Wendy Grant July 24, 2012 at 09:41 AM
@Jill RN, thanks for bringing up the race thing, it upsets me to no end. By the way people, a lot of people get dui's. They aren't putting thier names on here for the vigilantes to rip apart. All Races drink and screw up, just because they are celebrities we find out about it.
