Natural Gas Leak Forces Evacuation
Officials say construction company accidentally hit an outdoor natural gas line and caused a leak.
A building in east Livermore was evacuated Saturday after construction workers accidentally hit a natural gas line and caused a leak, Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department Battalion Chief Jeff Peters said.
At about 9:50 a.m. firefighters responded to a reported broken natural gas line in the 800 block of Herman Avenue, near Northfront Road.
"The onsite construction crew and occupants of the facility were evacuated from the area," Peters said. "The residents in the affected area were told to shelter in place."
