Mylar Balloon Believed to be Cause of Brush Fire in Livermore

Two acres burned during the Saturday brush fire.

By AUTUMN JOHNSON

Fire officials believe a mylar balloon tangled in high voltage power lines is to blame for a small vegetation fire that broke out on Saturday evening near Kalthoff Cmn.

Livermore Pleasanton Fire Battalion Chief Paul Legasa says fire crews were able to knock down the fire in about 90 minutes.

"Upon our arrival the fire was burning away from the closest residence," Legasa said. "A second alarm was requested to ensure quick containment of the fire."

According to Legasa, fire personnel returned the following morning to investigate the fire further.
