Mother Fatally Stabs 1-Year-Old Daughter in Del Valle Regional Park

A 23-year-old mother who allegedly tried unsuccessfully to kill herself while at Del Valle Regional Park in Livermore stabbed her infant daughter to death on Saturday afternoon.

KGO-TV reported that the incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. off Arroyo Road near the dam, about one mile away from the Wente Vineyards golf course.

According to KGO-TV, the woman, who officials say was distraught, came to the park alone with her child. 

The San Jose Mercury News reported that the unidentified woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

According to the San Jose Mercury News, the incident took place near the Arroyo Dam and near the Wente Golf course.

Livermore residents are reporting multiple emergency vehicles in the area behind the golf course.

East Bay Regional Park District police was not immediately available for comment.

The 4,395 acre park is located at 7000 Del Valle Road in Livermore.
