Masked Burglars Drive Car Through Jewelry Store Window

The suspects used sledge hammers to smash the jewelry cases at the Kay Jewelers inside the Livermore Premium Outlets, police say.

By Autumn Johnson

Three masked and hooded suspects drove a car through the front window of the Kay Jewelers located inside the Premium Outlets early this morning, police officials say.

According to Livermore Police, around 3:40 a.m., police responded to a glass break alarm at the jewelery store. Once officers arrived, they discovered the suspects smashed the glass front doors with a car and used sledge hammers on three jewelry display cases.

The suspects left in a compact white station wagon and a white over tan sedan after only four minutes inside the store. Police are still determining the amount of the loss for Kay Jewelers.

Police say there are 24-hour security patrols at the outlet mall but the security didn't see anything at the time of the alarm, although they did see cars leaving the property at a "high rate of speed."

Police are processing the store for evidence.
