'Man with a Gun' Reported at the Vine Prompts Police Search Saturday

A witness called police to report seeing a man shove a gun into his waistband before walking into the theater

Livermore Police officers searched the Vine Cinema on Saturday after a witness called to say she saw a man shove a gun into his waistband before walking into the theater on Saturday night.

Officer Traci Rebiejo says the witness called police around 7 p.m. to report the incident, which prompted the search of both theaters.

"Police checked both theaters, row by row," Rebiejo said. "Two people were found matching the suspect's description but no gun was ever found during the incident."

We live in an open carry state people. Get over it. People can carry guns if they want to.
Smitty December 03, 2013 at 11:29 AM
No CaliGirl. You do not live in a handgun open carry state. It was banned by law in 2012.
mike December 03, 2013 at 11:49 AM
AB144-"misdemeanor to carry an exposed and unloaded gun in public". The witness at the Vine said the gun was concealed, which would not be allowed even under the open carry law, unless the holder had a concealed weapons permit.

"Two people were found that matched the description..." Let me guess, the description given of the suspect was a black male, between 4-7 ft tall, weighing between 100-400 lbs.

cat-The "nuts" are loose once again. Got kicked off this site for your anti-social gibberish, only to pop up again under another name? You know these forums were intended for adults or near adults who could contribute something to the "conversation" and equally, refrain from verbally attacking those whom you disagreed.

Hello all, I think this conversation has run its course. Let's end it here. thanks.
livermoron December 03, 2013 at 08:48 PM
He's right. This conversation is as pointless as LPD's actions at the theater...
Such Troll December 03, 2013 at 08:51 PM
Can you imagine being the people in the movies at the time? Cops busting in searching everyone, sounds scary.
livermoron December 03, 2013 at 08:57 PM
Get use to it mr serious. Your living in a police state. The patch is the only place where u are truly free.....
Such Troll December 03, 2013 at 08:59 PM
It's weird how anyone can report anything. It's clear there was no gun in the theater or the police would have found it, right?
Autumn Johnson (Troll) December 03, 2013 at 09:48 PM
This whole thing seems like one big game of CLUE. In the theater, with the gun; but, WHOM?! Was it Professor Plum? Perhaps it was Colonel Mustard? I bet it was Wesley Snipes.
livermoron December 03, 2013 at 10:44 PM
Racial profiling huh troll? Smh...
Dtayls 4me December 03, 2013 at 11:38 PM
Wow! A gun-carrying movie patron...sounds like a good thing to me in view of today's extreme assaults on crowds. I'm glad they didn't find him.
Terry December 04, 2013 at 07:47 AM
Does the public have the right to know who called the police from the Vine? Aren't 911 calls public info? Probably an ex - spouse harassing their ex on a date at the Vine.
RU11550 December 04, 2013 at 09:22 AM
Given the mass shootings that have occurred across America, I don't blame people for calling the police when they see stuff such as this. Just remember, LPD was sent to this call due a call for service they received. Mr. Troll sounds ignorant.
Terry December 04, 2013 at 09:58 AM
given the mass shootings. I believe I would feel safer if someone DID have a gun to DEFEND me.
RU11550 December 04, 2013 at 12:23 PM
Thats if the guy with a gun is actually a good guy.

There was never a gun and to be honest I feel the police should reimburse the patrons on the theater that day for busting in a the good part of the movie and searching everyone. @Mr. Troll your knowledge of works in context is amazing. Have you ever given any thought to putting an (Editor) next to your name.
Autumn Johnson (Editor) December 05, 2013 at 06:42 PM
Looks like the Vine is not the only theater in Tri-Valley to have this kind of stuff happening. http://sanramon.patch.com/groups/police-and-fire/p/anonymous-call-prompts-regal-cinemas-evacuation
Autumn Johnson (Troll) December 05, 2013 at 07:17 PM
This is highly suspicious, Johnson.
Such Troll December 05, 2013 at 07:29 PM
Yes Johnson, this is suspicious. Maybe part of a master plan yet to be reveled? Have the police given any update to their theories on this fiasco?
Autumn Johnson (Troll) December 05, 2013 at 08:35 PM
Why yes, Cat in a Hat, that was my thought to the exact. Was it a prank, perhaps a scheme? Were they the same, or worked as a team? I am sure Johnson will keep us informed, if anything happens outside the norm. Toodles.
