Man Arrested in Connection With Auto Burglaries

Police say there may be another suspect involved in several downtown auto burglaries reported Wednesday evening.

One man has been arrested by on suspicion of auto burglaries that occurred Wednesday evening in downtown Livermore, Sgt. Erin Cole said.

The man, who was found with his face bleeding, was detained behind the on Railroad Avenue. He was later identified by police as Armani Carvajal, 21, of Livermore. Police say another suspect may be involved in the burglaries.

Officers were dispatched about 5:45 p.m. Wednesday to the parking lot behind the First Street Alehouse to investigate a man breaking into several vehicles, police said.

Minutes later, police received reports that a burglary of an auto had occurred on First and McLeod streets, just in front of the .

Witnesses at the downtown parking lot told police the suspect ran toward the Groth Brothers Chevrolet dealership on South L Street.

Police searched the surrounding area, including the complex on Railroad Avenue.

They were notified later that the suspect was hiding behind the Goodwill Store. 

Officers detained Carvajal about 6:20 p.m. and walked him across the tracks toward Western and Ventura avenues in north Livermore.

Police do not know why he was bleeding.

Carvajal told police he had a bloody lip because he "got into problems with some people."

"They robbed me for whatever I had," he said to police.

Carvajal, who began to cry, received medical attention from firefighters before he was taken away by officers.

Police said he was in possession of an iPhone, which was reported stolen from one of the vehicles.

"We are investigating at least two auto burglaries," Cole said.
