Man Arrested After Running Away During Traffic Stop

Livermore police help detain man who fled after a CHP traffic stop.

One person was arrested Thursday after leading police on a manhunt, Livermore Police Sgt. Erin Cole said.

The unidentified man ran away from the California Highway Patrol after an officer stopped his vehicle on Interstate 580, CHP Officer Steve Creel said.

"It was a registration stop and the man got out of his vehicle and took off running," Creel said.

The man fled toward the First Street off ramp area, officials said.

The was then called at about 1:40 p.m. to assist in finding the man. Officers set up a perimeter around the area and were able to detain the man without incident on Southfront Road, Cole said.

Creel said the man had several outstanding warrants for his arrest.
