Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department Respond to Smell at Stoneridge Mall

Alameda County Fire Department also responded to the call.

Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department responded to Stoneridge Mall Monday on reports of a foul odor.

"There was not a gas leak but a foul odor from some maintenance work that was being completed on the fire sprinkler system," said Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department Battalion Chief Michael Miller. "Some occupants complained of headaches. Everyone refused medical care."

A total of four engines, one truck and one chief were dispatched to the report, which was called in on Oct. 7 at 2:03 p.m. The fire department also received assistance from two engines from the Alameda County Fire Department.

"The odor was from the old water in the fire sprinkler pipe," Miller said. "After sitting in the pipe for a year or more the water takes on a foul non-hazardous odor."
