Livermore Police Warn Residents About Burglars Posing as Solicitors

By Bay City News -

Police in Livermore are alerting residents about a recent rash of daytime residential burglaries.

In about a week's time, there have been eight daytime home burglaries, including in the 100 and 500 blocks of El Caminito; the 5500 block of Charlotte Way; the 1100 block of Essex Street; the 900 block of Wagoner Drive; the 4000 block of Capriconus Avenue; and two in the 700 block of Debra Street, police said.

Police believe the thieves are posing as solicitors and pretending to sell merchandise. In some cases, when no one appears to be home, the thieves return the next day and burglarize the residence, police said.

Other times, if no one answers the door, the thieves immediately head to the backyard and try to break in. Police advise residents who are hesitant to answer a door to make it clear that they are home. Anyone who sees suspicious activity is asked to call police at (925) 371-4978.
