Livermore Police Investigating Sexual Battery in Robertson Park

Police are trying to determine if this case is related to other similar sexual batteries between 2007 and 2014.

The Livermore Police Department is investigating a sexual battery that occurred on May 16.

About 5:48 p.m., an adult female was walking along the bike path within Robertson Park between the Rodeo Arena and Arroyo Road.

While walking and listening to music with headphones on, the victim was approached from behind by the suspect, who was described as possibly a Hispanic male, approximately 5' 8", 180 pounds, and between the age of 30 and 40 years old.

The suspect wrapped his arms around the victim's upper chest and shoulder area. While holding the victim, the suspect sexually battered the victim. The victim was able to break free from the suspect's grasp and escape.

Livermore Police Detectives are looking into the facts surrounding this case and attempting to determine if this case is related to the series of sexual batteries that occurred in the past to female joggers.

Between 2007 and 2014, we have had 8 incidents in which female joggers/walkers have been sexually battered while wearing headphones and while jogging/walking alone.  Other law enforcement agencies have reported similar incidents.

The Livermore Police would like to encourage people to walk and or jog in pairs. While out walking or jogging, we would encourage people to be extra vigilant, especially when wearing earbuds.

This investigation is ongoing and is a priority of the Livermore Police Department. The Livermore Police Department is seeking the community's assistance in locating and identifying the suspect in this case. Anyone with information or witnessed the incident is encouraged to call the Livermore Police Department at (925) 371-4762.
