Livermore Police Arrest Five in Car Vandalism Case

Current and former Granada High School students arrested over the weekend connected to car windows broken with BB pellets Sept. 2.

A tripped burglar alarm at Livermore's Granada High School over the weekend ended with five arrested in connection to a car vandalism spree on Sept. 2.

According to Livermore Police Department, officers were dispatched to
Granada High School Saturday, Sept. 14 at 11:50 p.m. for a burglar alarm.

When they arrived at the high school, officers saw several subjects fleeing from the school, the police report said. They were able to detain the suspects and question them. The investigation revealed that the 16-year-old teen boy had intentionally broken a window at the school and was arrested for vandalism, the police report said.

According to police, it was determined after interviewing the suspects that they may have been involved in the vandalism that left 38 cars with broken windows on Sept. 2.

Five suspects were arrested as a result of the investigation by police: two male adults, two 16-year-old teen boys and one 16-year-old teen girl.

(removed) was booked at Santa Rita Jail for multiple counts of vandalism. Tyler Darnell, also 18, was released with charges pending to the District Attorney. The three 16-year-olds were all arrested and released into the custody of their parents.

According to police, all five were together in a car and took turns using an air-powered pellet gun to shot at and damage various car and residential windows. The pellet gun was recovered as well as other evidence implicating the suspects in the crimes, police said.

An estimated $12,000 in damages were done on Sept. 2 by the suspects, police said.

All five suspects are Livermore residents and are/were students at Granada High School. No motivation or reason for the vandalisms was provided by the suspects.
