Livermore Man Wanted for Pleasanton Stabbing Surrenders to Police

Police say 29-year-old Livermore man surrendered to police on Jan. 18 for suspected Redcoats Pub stabbing.

Here's information provided by the Pleasanton Police Department:

On 1/18/13 at 8:30 P.M. Pleasanton Police arrested 29-year-old Santiago Valencia of Livermore for the stabbing that occurred behind the Redcoats Pub on 01/05/13. Our investigation identified Valencia as the suspect and through witness and victim interviews it was determined the stabbing was motivated by a disagreement between two people who have a mutual female friend in common. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Valencia who came to the Police Department and surrendered to officers. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail for one count of 245(a)(1) PC, assault with a deadly weapon. Valencia’s bail is set at $180,000. Evidence shows this was not gang related but an isolated incident.

Background of crime:

On 01/05/2013, at approximately 8:11AM, a male victim with a stab wound to his back walked into the Emergency Room at ValleyCare Medical Center at 5555 W. Las Positas Blvd in Pleasanton, saying he had been involved in a fight last night and was stabbed. The victim, a 27 yr old male Pleasanton resident, sustained a single non life threatening minor stab wound to his back. He was treated and released from the hospital. As part of the investigation, the victim reported he went to pick up his girlfriend who reported she was being harassed by a male at a bar. The victim arrived to the rear of the Red Coats Pub located at 336 St. Mary’s Street and an altercation ensued between him and the other
male. During the altercation, the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim once in the back.

The suspect then fled the area on foot. The victim left the scene with his girlfriend believing the wound was not serious. It was not until this morning that he realized he needed medical attention.

A check of calls for service showed that at approximately 12:37AM, Pleasanton Police received a call of a fight in the parking lot to the rear of the Redcoats Pub. The caller reported two males fighting and that a female was possibly involved. Officers responded and checked the area at the time, but could not
locate any of the involved parties or witnesses. No additional calls were made to the Police to report the incident by any of the involved parties.

BESIDE THIS GUY OF COURSE!....(THIS IS A NONSENSE CASE. NO ONE WAITS TO SHOW UP AT THE E.R NEXT DAY UNLESS YOU GOT SOMETHING TO HIDE ABOUT IF YOUR SERIOUSLY THAT INJURED). ;/ I think this man shouldn't be punish that seriously in this case. Or even be in jail with such a high bail.
