Injury Accident Blocks Lanes on Interstate 580

Multi-car accident expected to cause delays on eastbound I-580.

A multi-car accident on Interstate Highway 580 in Livermore blocked two eastbound lanes late Tuesday afternoon, a California Highway Patrol
spokesman said.

At about 5:56 p.m., CHP responded to a four-to-five car accident on eastbound Interstate 580, just west of Greenville Road, Officer Peter Van Eckhardt said.

The CHP issued a Sig-alert at about 6 p.m., closing the two far left lanes as fire crews assess all the people involved in the accident, Van Eckhardt said.

Several minor injuries have been reported but everyone is expected to survive, the officer said.

Both lanes are expected to reopen by about 7 p.m., Van Eckhardt said.

Drivers are advised to take alternate routes.
