Hey Livermore, Do You Smell That?

A fire in Winters, Calif. is leaving a foul smell in the air.

Livermore Patch Facebook readers are describing the smell in Livermore this morning as stale cigarettes or burning garbage.

The smell is actually smoke from a hay fire near Winters, Calif. that has ended up near Springtown in Livermore due to the "strange weather," said Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department Spokesman Joe Testa.

"We received a call from a school this morning about an odor," Testa said.

The call, made by nearby Leo Croce Elementary School was made at 7:44 a.m.

The City of Livermore confirmed the fire and added that the smell is from a major fire in a hay storage yard in Yolo County near Vacaville along Interstate 505.

Brace yourself, Livermore. According to the city, the fire may last two days.
