Hayward Cop and Former Livermore Child Care Teacher Accused of Molesting Kids Says He Is Not Guilty

Richard McLeod is in jail without bail.

The Hayward police officer charged with sexually abusing middle school girls when he taught at an after-school program in Livermore, pleaded not guilty Tuesday, according to a spokesperson for the Alameda County District Attorney.

Richard McLeod was in custody without bail Wednesday. The 38-year-old Livermore resident is due to appear in court on Nov. 7 for a pre-trial hearing and bail motion.

McLeod worked at Kids Zone from 1992 to 2007, when he joined the Hayward Police Department. Police believe the abuse started in 1998. He was put on leave from the Hayward Police Department.
