Firefighters Contain Attic Fire

Officials say activated sprinklers help keep blaze in check until firefighters arrived on scene.

Firefighters on Friday night extinguished an attic fire, Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department Battalion Chief Jack Neiman-Kimel said.

At about 9:50 p.m., emergency crews were sent to the 600 block of Vivian Drive, near Patterson Pass and South Vasco roads, for a report of a house on fire.

"Smoke was seen by neighbors who alerted the homeowners," Neiman-Kimel said.

Sprinklers in the attic activated during the blaze, causing an alarm to sound, Neiman-Kimel said.

"The sprinklers in the attic kept the fire in check until we could get in there and extinguish it," Neiman-Kimel said.
