A fire destroyed a mobile home and killed a dog early this morning.
The blaze erupted about 2:30 a.m. at the 800 block of Sungold Circle, according to Jack Neiman-Kimel, battalion chief for the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department.
The homeowner told fire investigators he had gone to the store for some milk and when he returned the mobile home was engulfed in flames.
Three fire engines and one truck were dispatched to the fire. The blaze was extinguished in 20 minutes.
No firefighters or civilians were hurt. Firefighters found the deceased dog in a back room, said Neiman-Kimel.
He said the cause is still being investigated, but an unattended cigarette appears to have ignited the blaze.
