Livermore Police officials say two men were caught on surveillance video burglarizing the Walmart store in Livermore during the early morning hours on Christmas Day.

According to Officer Traci Rebiejo, around 3:35 a.m. on Dec. 25, officers responding to a report of an alarm at 2700 Las Positas Road discovered the front glass windows of the Walmart had been broken.

Rebiejo says a full interior search of the store conducted by an Alameda County Sheriff's canine unit did not turn up any suspects.

"A lot of electronics were taken during the burglary," Rebiejo said. "The surveillance video shows what appears to be two males, of an unknown race, with their faces covered."

The suspects were last seen leaving the area in a light-colored, newer model four-door Dodge Charger with a sunroof and dark-colored wheel rims, according to Rebiejo.

Anyone with information is asked to call Livermore Police at 925-371-4900.

Are you serious enough Patch. five days after Christmas you still have a large News Alert red banner on all the pages about something that happened five days ago, and in the grand scheme of things, pretty minor?
c December 31, 2013 at 04:37 AM
I completely agree Maurice. Breaking news 5 days later??? LOL...

When Noceda was the editor, this was the place for breaking news. The patch was on top of it. Now it is a sad place. 5 days later, some things happen in town never make the news now.

I agree. Notice that in the "Speak Out" section it was stated that the editor was on a holiday break. If the Patch is going to have a Breaking News "The biggest stories as soon as they happen." section, maybe someone should take over for those on vacation? Regardless, Noceda was much more current with Breaking News, all year long. Patch, please bring someone in like Noceda! You need to know - until recently, that up-to-the-minute Breaking News was what made the Patch so popular!!!!

Maurice, I don't think this was minor. Not compared to other crimes in Livermore. It's much worse than a residential burglary.
Maurice Duenas December 31, 2013 at 12:08 PM
Actually, Becky, you are 100% wrong. An empty commercial establishment being burglarized at 3:30 in the morning when the odds of anyone being around is nil is nothing compared to your house being burglarized at any time of day, when the odds of someone being inside are much higher, and you and your family and children being in danger. Think about it. A commercial burglary is very minor compared to the violation of your home and self being invaded.

But there is 100% chance that Walmart has a burglar alarm, and the cops should be there very quickly, so the burglars have to hurry, and could face armed cops any minute. So I think it's just as dangerous an act as breaking into a house. It seems like I hear about home burglaries much more often, so I assume that store burglaries are less common. And that makes it newsworthy, especially since it's Walmart, and not some small store like Carpet One.

am i missing something? where does it say breaking news?
blackoutmetal666 December 31, 2013 at 05:38 PM
Gosh some people just can't live in this world the right way. Find them, then take them out back make them dig their own grave, push them in it and then shoot them. I pay way to many taxes to keep violent criminals behind bars. Either kill them or change GITMO into an island of prisoners and give them no food or water. See if they can make it then.

Do Walmarts in rougher cities have big steel window screens like the stores at the mall? It seems like the Livermore store could put one in the garden center, and then also in the front lobby area.
Becky December 31, 2013 at 07:27 PM
Not that I feel sorry for Walmart. I wish they'd put them out of business.
Spike H December 31, 2013 at 08:36 PM
You people still want BART coming to downtown?!
blackoutmetal666 December 31, 2013 at 09:07 PM
Yeah it can come downtown just hire people to not let thugs in. Obviously most of us can look at someone and tell if they are a thug or not.

blackoutmetal666 January 01, 2014 at 04:09 PM
We'll deal with it. I live here and I don't steal, litter or cause any sorts of violence. I have my opinions just like you have yours and I have a right to state them.
Sarah January 03, 2014 at 04:24 AM
i dont want bart coming here either. we're going to see this sort of thing more often if/when it does.
Spike H January 04, 2014 at 03:51 PM
You're right, Sarah, just look at what happened to San Leandro and Pittsburg/Antioch...keep it out on 580 where it belongs...
