Big Rig Fire Temporarily Shuts Down Freeway Off Ramp

Firefighters extinguish truck blaze that spread to nearby grass on Greenville Road off ramp.

An eastbound Interstate 580 off ramp was temporarily shut down after a big rig caught fire and sparked a grass blaze.

At 5:30 p.m. Thursday, firefighters responded to a report of a big rig on fire at the Greenville off ramp, said Jeff Peters, Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department Battalion Chief.

When firefighters arrived on scene they saw the fully-engulfed big rig cab ignited neary grass and set the clover leaf on fire, Peters said.
