UPDATE: North Livermore Avenue Off Ramp Reopens After Diesel Spill

Big rig partially jack-knifed this morning on eastbound Interstate 580, according to CHP.

The North Livermore Avenue off ramp has been reopened following a diesel spill, said the California Highway Patrol.

Thirty gallons of diesel spilled into a storm drain on eastbound Interstate 580 this morning after a big rig crashed.

Crews worked on cleaning up the spill during the temporary closure, and the ramp was reopened at 2:27 p.m.

The truck struck a guardrail at around 9:30 a.m. and partially jack-knifed on the North Livermore Avenue off-ramp, CHP Officer Kevin Bartlett said.

The driver was not injured in the accident, Bartlett said.

A sig alert was issued at 9:59 a.m. by the CHP to close down the off-ramp while the big rig was towed.

The state Department of Fish and Game was notified of the spill.
