Community Corner

Nate's Corner - Refreshed

Thank you to whoever stole my son's memorial items on the corner where he last lived. It allowed me to redecorate it. I found a stained glass dragonfly at Roadside Relics (a great little store on Second Street). For me, the adult dragonfly symbolizes the soul departing from the physical body and from the rest of us here on earth (larval dragonflies live under the water). I will be adding a picture of Nate to the corner again, too, once I get it laminated. I thought about placing the huge cross and other items that used to be there in case it was a disgruntled community member. However, my son's memorial is there to honor him, not to be a pawn. If the city of Livermore would have taken measures to prevent Lomitas Avenue from being used as a thoroughfare, my son might be alive today. Unfortunately, his neck was broken when he hit the spade of a shovel that was standing up on the side of a huge gardening trailer being pulled by a commercial truck. I know the neighbors have complained to the city about this for years and they still do nothing. It also would have been nice if the city cleaned up the large blood spot on the road so that my husband didn't have to do it while I sobbed and watched. Thanks again.
