Dr. Robert Barnett, pediatrician at Kaiser Permanente in Livermore died Sept. 6.

Kaiser Permanente, Statement on the passing of Dr. Robert Barnett

Judy Lively, MD and David Niver, MD, Physicians in Chief for Kaiser Permanente's Diablo Area

All of us in the Kaiser Permanente family are saddened to hear the news of Dr. Robert Barnett’s sudden death

Dr. Barnett was not only a dedicated colleague and family man, but he was a beloved pediatrician and familiar face to so many in the Tri-Valley area. His presence and passion for healing will be missed.

He joined our Pleasanton medical offices in 1985, moving to our Livermore medical offices in 2003 to lead the pediatric department. Early in his career he had thought of becoming a teacher but chose medicine instead.

“I became a pediatrician and I still get to teach for a living,” he wrote.

Dr. Barnett was a kind man and an ideal pediatrician; a mentor and friend to many. He had a way of always looking at the good and seeing the potential in people.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Dr. Barnett’s wife Pamela, their three children and the many patients whose lives he touched.
