Labor Day over the Years

When I was a kid, Labor Day meant school was starting soon.  It meant the leaves would soon be changing colors and football games in the neighbor’s front yard were about to become a daily routine.

About 20 years ago, in a different phase of my life when I managed political campaigns for a living Labor Day weekend meant the official start to the campaign season.

Now of course the pundits are already speculating about who the GOP will elect to run against Mrs. Clinton  in 2016 while local campaigns are implementing their absentee voter strategy in early August because to wait until after Labor Day  is the same as conceding the election.

This Labor Day weekend I’m reverting to another chapter of my youth.  I’m celebrating the start of the college football 2013 season.  Go UCLA!
