Deacon Dave’s 'House of the Dove' Christmas Display Opens for the Season
The biggest lights display in Livermore opened for the season on Nov. 30
On any given night during the month of December, the line of people waiting to see the breath-taking holiday display at Deacon Dave's house can stretch for blocks.
Locals who have seen the display will likely tell you the view from the inside is worth the wait in line. Since 1982, the lights at Deacon Dave's have been delighting visitors and is a holiday tradition for many families throughout Tri-Valley and beyond during the Christmas season.
This year, more LED lights and new colors can be found at the popular display that draws tens of thousands of people in about 31 days of operation.
According to the Casa da Pomba website, in an effort to save electricity, 12,000 additional LED lights have been added this year's 350,000 light display since the set-up process began at the end of the summer.
The Roman Catholic Deacon is the creative mind behind each year's theme. The display is put together and staffed by volunteers who wear red caps and jackets.

Deacon Dave's, located at 352 Hillcrest Avenue in Livermore, is open nightly from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and on Friday and Saturday the display closes at 10 p.m. Admission is free.
