Congrats to Deacon Dave — Our Local Deck the House Contest Winner

Livermore home, in its 29th year of holiday lights splendor, is honored in national holiday decoration contest to raise money for schools.

Thank you so much to Dave Rezendes and his volunteer team for entering Casa del Pomba in the Patch Deck the House contest.

You're the Livermore local winner! Congratulations!

Sadly this fantastic home did not get chosen as one of 24 finalists nationally. Those houses are competing to win a $100,000 donation to one lucky school district.

A special thank you to everyone who entered. You've made our dark nights more festive and "oooh-worthy" this holiday season.

But anyone can still vote. California finalists include homes in Davis, Monrovia, Pacifica and Rohnert Park. Voting ends at 9 p.m. Jan. 8

On behalf of Deacon Dave and the volunteer team who works year-round to put this together, we thank you for your votes. Although we didn't make it into the finals, we'll make it next year! Unfortunately, i think a mix-up with the judges thinking we were a commercial entity hurt our chances - even though they reinstated us, it may have been too late. Please come by and enjoy the last few nights. We close for the year at 9 pm on Sunday. Thank you to Livermore Patch for promoting the display and going to bat for us convincing national Patch judges that the display is a private residence!

I'm bummed out the judges didn't select Deacon Dave to advance in the competition. Thanks Jeanie for helping the community get behind the effort and thanks everyone who participated and voted.
