Vine Cinema Brings Out the Classics

Nostalgia found at monthly event.

I was about the same age as my 5-year-old daughter when Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark arrived in theaters. My dad was very excited to take us to see it. I don't remember much from that night. But in the many years since, I've seen the movie more times than I can count.

So, when I found out it was this month's featured film for classic night at , I knew I could not miss the chance to see the movie again on the big screen.

I took both my children with me to see the classic film Thursday. The theater was packed and the show sold out quickly.

Going to the movies always is a fun experience, but there is something so absolutely timeless and goosebump-inducing about going to see a classic movie. Even though I know all the lines and can re-enact every scene, something changed as soon as the lights in the theater went down. Hearing the familiar theme song blast through the theater made me feel like a kid again.

As I sat watching Indiana Jones' silhouette in the Cairo desert, I looked over at my smiling kids. At that moment, I knew that this certainly wouldn't be our last classic movie night.

Next month, I'm planning on rounding up the ladies for a girls' night at the next classic movie: Gone With the Wind. I've already marked my calendar for the other classics as guaranteed family nights. "Star Wars" will be shown in January and The Princess Bride in February.

Classic movie night is held on the second Thursday of every month at the Vine Cinema.
