So, You Want to be a Journalist? Patch Has Paid Summer Internships

Here's you chance to get a valuable and rare (paid) internship.

Patch.com is searching the country and now accepting applications for full-time, paid summer internships where you'll gain valuable experience working as a journalist. In order to apply, you must be a junior, senior, graduate student or a recent graduate.

As an intern, you will:

  • Pitch and write stories.
  • Attend weekly editorial meetings.
  • Shoot and edit photos and video.
  • Cover town and school board meetings, court hearings and local businesses.
  • Attend community outreach events.
  • Execute social media strategies.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Smart, enthusiastic students with a passion for local journalism. You should be a self-starter, able to learn quickly and work independently. That means free spirits and straight shooters. Creatives and critics. Nerds with nerve. People who love the Internet but can see its cracks— and its future, too.

Candidates must have demonstrated reporting experience through campus media, an internship or a freelance position. Candidates must have a car and be willing to work some nights and weekends.
