Fire Closes Anita's Taqueria

A small fire inside Anita's Taqueria on Monday, May 5 has closed the Mexican restaurant and there is no estimate on when they will reopen, according to Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Battalion Chief Mike Miller.

Firefighters responded to the restaurant on the 2100 block of Railroad Avenue for a smoke investigation at 2:02 p.m.

Smoke was discovered coming out of an interior door jamb and a fire was found between two 2-by-4's. The blaze was extinguished and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire appeared to be heat coming from the cooktop being transferred to the wall studs.

The gas and electric had to be shutoff until repairs were made, which has closed the restaurant.

The owners are currently working with the Livermore Building Department.
