Caltrans Announces Interstate 580 Closures

Caltrans has scheduled closures this week on Interstate 580 to remove falsework at the State Route 84/I-580 interchange. This work will require a full closure of the freeway at night, and traffic will be detoured. There will also be various lane closures prior to the full freeway closures. Falsework is a temporary structure that supports the components of a bridge during construction.

A full closure of westbound I-580, between Airway Boulevard and North Livermore Avenue, is scheduled for Tuesday, from 12 to 3 a.m. Detour: Exit via North Livermore off-ramp, to North Livermore Avenue, Portola Avenue, East Airway Boulevard, Kitty Hawk Road, and return to westbound I-580.

Full closures for eastbound I-580, between North Livermore Avenue and Airway Boulevard, are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, from 1 to 4 a.m. Detour: Exit via Airway off-ramp, to Kitty Hawk Road, East Airway Boulevard., Portola Avenue, North Livermore Avenue, and return to eastbound I-580.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and allow extra time for their commute.  Please drive cautiously and leave a safe traveling distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you.
