Weather: Bit of Rain, Cold Temps Arrive in Bay Area

January was unusually dry, weather experts say.

A weak system storm system arriving Thursday is expected to bring a mix of clouds, rain, colder temperatures and wind, according to KTVU meteorologist Steve Paulson.

Today's rain is the first since Jan. 23 and only the fourth storm of 2013 for the Bay Area.

Skies will be mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms Thursday evening.

Lows will be in the 30s and 40s, and highs will be in the 50s. The forecast for Saturday is windy and cool, with gradual warming Sunday into next week.

For skiers and snowboarders, of course, the news of precipitation in the Bay Area always brings hopes for fresh powder at nearby slopes.

Dodge Ridge, one of the closest resorts to the East Bay, expects half a foot to fall, starting Thursday through Friday. Season pass holders will get exclusive early lift access on Saturday.
