Livermore's summer farmers market kicks off today with wine tasting.

Wine + fresh produce = Thirsty Thursdays.

Well, sort of.

The special summer farmers market kicks off today with local wine tasting and live music.

The event will run from 5 to 8 p.m. at the downtown , and will continue every third Thursday from May through October.

Featured wine tasting at today's market include selections from , , and . An event glass is $10 and can be used for all Thirsty Thursdays throughout the 2011 season. Tokens for tasting are $5 for five. One token buys a 1 ounce taste and five tokens buy a 6 ounce glass.

Live music will be provided by Scientific Jam.

In addition, the event will feature arts and crafts.

Carnegie Park is on Fourth Street between J and K streets.

The next Thirsty Thursday is scheduled for June 16.
