Toyota to Film Commercial in Downtown Livermore

Filming based on holiday shopping scheduled Thursday.

Here's an announcement provided by the Livermore Valley Film Commission:

The Livermore Valley Film Commission, an initiative of the Livermore Valley Chamber of Commerce, announces a film production taking place in downtown Livermore.

On Thursday, Nov 8, Toyota will be filming a commercial on First Street between South J and South K streets. The theme is holiday shopping, and will feature a Toyota driving with presents on its roof. Our beautiful downtown will be featured as the Christmas shopping area in the spot. Please be aware that First Street between South Livermore Avenue and South L Streets will be closed from as early as 3 p.m. until midnight. We will make all efforts to keep the street open as long as possible. There will still be access off of K Street to head west on First Street.

All the downtown merchants will be open during their usual hours. Stop by and shop and dine — you may end up in the commercial! Downtown merchants are excited about the project, and are making sure their windows are decorated in the holiday spirit.

Thank you to everyone for your patience and cooperation as we bring filming to the region. The Film Commission was started as an economic development initiative for the Livermore Valley. Commercials, feature films, corporate videos, and even magazine shoots bring money to the region. Hiring local resources, purchasing supplies and meals, and paying location fees are just some of the ways filming is an economic benefit. In 2011, the Valley realized an estimated $1.1 million impact from filming. Besides, it's fun! If you have any questions about filming in the region, or have a home or business you would like to list as a location, please contact Jeanie Haigh, assistant director of the Livermore Valley Film Commission, jhaigh@livermorechamber.org or 925-447-1606.
