Sprouts & Shutters: New Bridal Store, Ballet Studio and Furniture Store

Here's the latest roundup of retail, restaurant and other business news in the Tri-Valley area.

Double Barrel Wine Bar plans to open in September next door to First Street Alehouse in Livermore. According to the new restaurant’s Facebook page, the wine bar will serve Spanish tapas, desserts with local, regional and global wines available by the glass, flight or bottle.

Street Science Skate Shop opened in May on First Street in Livermore, replacing 621 Skate Shop. The new skate shop stocks skateboards, scooters and accessories. It also hosts skating events and contests. The shop offers online ordering at street-sci.com.

Las Positas Vineyards celebrated the opening of its new winery and tasting room on Wetmore Road with a grand opening Aug. 14. Get the details in Patch's video .

One of the two Blossom’s Bridal & Formal shops at Pleasanton’s Stoneridge Shopping Center moved to a larger location on Amador Plaza in Dublin. The Dublin store, which opened Aug. 5 next to Jennifer Convertibles, specializes in wedding gowns and formal wear. The remaining Blossom’s, upstairs at the Stoneridge Shopping Center, specializes in special occasion dresses. 

American Furniture opened a 8,600 square foot showroom in the spring on Dublin Boulevard in Dublin next to Hooters. The family-owned business owned American Home Furnishings next to Marshalls until it closed last year and was replaced by the new DSW (Designer Shoe Warehouse).

Rachel’s Ballet opens its new studio on Sept. 6 in the Lamps Plus Plaza on San Ramon Road in Dublin. Rachel’s Ballet, which also operates studios in Fremont, provides classical ballet training plus classes in contemporary dance and jazz. 

Opening update: Sky River RV, previewed in , opened in early August on Golden Gate Drive in Dublin.

Sports Clips opens on Santa Rita Road in Pleasanton’s Rose Pavilion Shopping Center on Aug. 20. The walk-in salon, which specializes in men’s and boys’ hair, treats guys to sports on television and a scalp and shoulder massage. Sports Clips also has salons in Danville, San Ramon, Dublin and Livermore.

Continuing with the sports theme, the retail chain Sports Fever opened a store in Pleasanton's Stoneridge Shopping Center July 1. The sports fan gear store sells league licensed products such as jerseys, hats and posters, from the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL and NCAA. Sports Fever is located next to JCPenney on the upper level.

Bellezza Cristali’s Hair Salon plans to open a second location on W. Angela Street in Pleasanton next to Ameli’s Deli at the end of August. Owner Crystal Bellezza also owns a boutique hair salon by the same name on Front Street in Danville, where it specializes in hair cutting, color, highlights and wedding party up-dos. 

Opening update: Therapy, previewed in the , is now open on Main Street in Pleasanton.

We've got lots of restaurant news for Danville’s : The upscale European-style bistro  closes Aug. 27 and  closed at the end of July. Fortunately, those spaces won’t stay empty for long.

This fall Philip Yang, owner of award-winning Sasa in Walnut Creek and Blue Gingko in Lafayette, will replace Laurus with a new rotisserie-focused restaurant, Roti8. Yang will open another Blue Gingko in Yotaka Sushi’s old spot at the end of the year, after completing extensive interior and patio renovations. Finally, the plaza's , located near the two new restaurants, will close for several weeks in late September for extensive remodeling — the first major update in the restaurant’s 20-year history. It will be holding an end of summer closing celebration on Sept. 11. Get the details on the restaurant's Facebook page.

China Gourmet, a full-service Chinese restaurant, opened in June near  in the Green Valley Shopping Center. Visit Chinagourmet426.com to see the new eatery’s lunch, dinner and wine menu. 

Opening Updates: Also new to the Green Valley Shopping Center is Slow G’s Eatery, first , which opened at the end of July. Slow G’s is open for lunch Monday through Saturday. See the menu at slowgeatery.com

A new yoga studio, Yoga Fusion, opened in July on San Ramon Valley Boulevard in the San Ramon Square shopping center. Co-owner Greg Riley won Diablo’s “Best of the East Bay” Readers Choice award for best yoga teacher this year. See a class listing and sign up for a free week attheyogafusion.com.

San Ramon residents Amy and Joseph Meadows plan to open their first Dickey’s Barbecue Pit franchise in San Ramon sometime this November, in time for the holidays. The national chain serves meat smoked on site and other southern dishes like pulled pork sandwiches and even has fried okra. We’ll include an update in Sprouts when the owners secure a location.

San Ramon’s Diablo Motors recently moved from its old warehouse to a prominently located building on San Ramon Valley Boulevard, replacing the Total Sports store that closed in May. The auto dealership, specializing in pre-owned sport-luxury and sport-utility vehicles, opens to the public August 15.
