Sprouts & Shutters: Flame Broiler, Yakitori Hiroshi, Expressions Dance and More

Livermore’s Eckert Estate Winery moved from Arroyo Road into a much larger 5,200 square foot facility that hosts both its winery and tasting room. Eckert's new space on Graham Court is located around the corner from Longevity, Nottingham Cellars and Occasio and near Cuda Ridge, giving wine tasters five wineries in close proximity. Eckert Estate Winery’s tasting room is now open to visitors Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 12 to 5 p.m.

Speaking of wine, you can celebrate California Wine Month this month with local Tri-Valley events and sales ranging from port specials Cedar Mountain Winery in Livermore to a five-course wine-pairing dinner at the newly renovated Blackhawk Grille on Sept. 18. Yakitori Hiroshi is expected to open this fall in Dublin’s Ulferts Center, replacing Singapore Old Town Café that closed earlier this year. A spokesperson at Ulferts says the new Japanese eatery will specialize in Japanese-style barbecue. (Yakitori refers to grilled chicken skewers popular in Japan.)

Expressions Dance & Arts celebrated its grand opening Sept. 8 next to The Hop Yard in Pleasanton’s Hopyard Village Plaza. The new dance studio for children and adults offers ballet, tap, hip hop, jazz and zumba plus art lessons and “mommy & me” classes. Expressions Dance also limits each class to 12 students to focus on individual instruction. For details and a class schedule, visit expressions-dance-arts.com.

Kevin and Chris are good guys. They genuinely want to give back and care about introducing as manyRead More kids (young and old) as possible to the incredibly rewarding world of music. I am fortunate enough to have had somebody similar to these guys motivate me to get involved in music when I was a kid. 31 years later, I am still beatin’ on my drums every day. Great job Kev and Chris. Keep it up!
