Sprouts & Shutters: Black Bear Diner Open

The bear-themed restaurant opened this morning at 6 a.m.

The "Bearification" process is complete. At 6 a.m. this morning the Black Bear Diner officially opened for business in Pleasanton. The debut of the Black Bear Diner has been anticipated by residents for months as they watched the construction and remodeling process.

The bear-themed franchise website says its menu offers "bear sized portions" in a log cabin style setting. The restaurant, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, is open Sunday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Friday and Saturdays until 11 p.m.

The Pleasanton location is the thirteenth Bay Area Black Bear to open, with a total of 61 diners in the western states.
