So Good...So Sizzler! So Livermore?

Restaurant chain plans to open five new restaurants in the Bay Area, and Livermore may be a suitable location.

Sizzler, known for its endless salad bars and low-priced meals, may come back to town, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal.

Well, sort of.

While no official sizzlin' news on new locations has been announced, Livermore is mentioned in the WSJ report as an ideal city the company would like to invade. Details from the report here:

Sizzler is targeting high population areas that also have daytime workers nearby, such as Fremont, San Jose, Union City, Milpitas, Pleasanton and Livermore, though it hasn't made final decisions on where the restaurants will be. The chain is also remodeling existing restaurants in Santa Clara, Hayward, Pinole, Auburn and Sacramento.

Patch readers on our Facebook page said the building that now houses the on East Stanley Boulevard was previously occupied by a Sizzler.

It's about time Sizzler came back. I hate seeing the commercials, and not having one close to go to. I remember when Sizzler used to be on Pacific Ave, where the Emil Villa's is now.
Susan March 01, 2012 at 12:25 AM
Would love an Olive Garden and a Sizzler. We use to go to Sizzler all the time. It was a great way to fill up hungry boys.
Robert March 01, 2012 at 12:42 AM
I loved going to the Stanley Blvd location when Sizzler was there....steak and all-u-can-eat shrimp! MMMM MMMM GOOD!
Robert March 01, 2012 at 12:44 AM
I agree with wanting an Olive Garden in town somewhere! Hate seeing commercials for restaurants that don't exist in my city!
christina March 01, 2012 at 01:20 AM
we need a Chipotle also here in livermore!
Carolyn March 01, 2012 at 02:08 AM
Sizzler was first where Emil Villa's is now and then later where Shari's is now. Loved the Sunday Morning buffet!

How about a LONG JOHN SILVER? I would drive to tracy just to pick up and bring back to Livermore.
VJ March 01, 2012 at 02:45 AM
I vote for a Claim Jumper, a Pat and Oscars, Islands and Sweet Tomatos.
Joe March 01, 2012 at 03:28 AM
How about a Red Lobster?
PJ March 01, 2012 at 03:52 AM
Olive Garden and Red Lobster are owned by the same company. We need either or both in Livermore. The Chevy's site or the revolving door at First and North Mines??
Deb March 01, 2012 at 05:12 AM
How about Panera???
tilly March 01, 2012 at 07:02 AM
Livermore desperately needs a soup and salad buffet (eg., Sweet Tomatoes, Fresh Choice).
Owl March 01, 2012 at 07:23 AM
How about mom-n-pop shops and forget these chains?
Mark Tarte March 01, 2012 at 07:37 AM
Sonya, they actually started on Pacific Avenue back in the late 1960s/early 70s where Emil Villa's Restaurant and the Oak Door Bar are located.
Mark Tarte March 01, 2012 at 07:38 AM
Chipolte. I vote for a Chipolte Burrito shop.
Nancy March 01, 2012 at 03:28 PM
YES YES YES! I even wrote to Red Lobster and they said they have no interest in opening up any more stores iin this area. their loss cuz we'd be there at least once a week -
Penandra March 01, 2012 at 03:44 PM
I'm with Owl about more mom n pop shops and fewer chains . . . it's kind of what Livermore is about . . . independent! (Although having said that, I'd love to see an Eric's Deli)
::thumbs up:: March 01, 2012 at 04:05 PM
steak and malibu chicken....yum!
LostinTranslation March 01, 2012 at 05:18 PM
Not a Grizzler. This is fast food at its worst. A nice French bistro would be great.
Stac March 01, 2012 at 07:59 PM
Eric's deli as long as it's not the same owner as the one in Dublin! Would rather see Red Robin or Eddy Papa's come back.
jen March 02, 2012 at 01:38 AM
jen I agree. We need a Sizzler and a Chipotle
dubstep.or.tansformers? March 02, 2012 at 01:50 AM
Didn't Livermore's government scare away business chains through-out the eighties and nineties with outrageously high taxes or something? The only businesses still around from when I was a kid are the bars!
Erik Antonio March 04, 2012 at 04:30 PM
I can live without Sizzler. How about some Red Lobster?!
Mary Gonzalez March 04, 2012 at 04:39 PM
Red Lobster for sure! Malibu Chicken? What the heck is that?????
Speedie B March 04, 2012 at 05:42 PM
Sizzler, really? Is that the best we can do? I'd rather see a great diner like Ruby's Diner.

How about a good seafood restaurant - NOT a substandard chain like Red Lobster, but rather an independent, fresh seafood endeavor. Why should we have to settle for chain restaurants in Livermore - we have enough of those places; i.e., Applebee's, Chili's, etc. The food at these places is terrible, not fresh, and the restaurants are dirty.
Odus Hall March 05, 2012 at 12:22 PM
don't be a snoot you can go over to pleasanton for all that high end nose in the air crowd.
rosanna antonio March 05, 2012 at 04:11 PM
You're right Erik..i really want Red Lobster & Olive Garden here in Livermore..
LostinTranslation March 05, 2012 at 09:17 PM
To the person who commented "high end nose in the air," I wonder why are you so judgmental ? Are you saying Pleasanton is "snobby?" People like you give Livermore a bad name.
