Paragon Outlets Soon to be Renamed as Livermore Valley Premium Outlets

The new outlet mall has been bought by the Simon Property Group and will get a name change.

From Simon Malls:

Simon Property Group, Inc. ("Simon") (NYSE:SPG) announced today that it has completed the acquisition of Paragon Outlets Grand Prairie in Grand Prairie, Texas and Paragon Outlets Livermore Valley in Livermore, California. Simon now owns 100% of each asset.

The 417,000 square foot Grand Prairie center, serving the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area, is home to more than 100 leading designer and name brand outlet stores including Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH, Bloomingdale's The Outlet Store, Coach, Cole Haan, DKNY, Hugo Boss, Kate Spade New York, J.Crew, Michael Kors, Nike and Tommy Hilfiger.  The center opened in August of 2012 and is 100% leased.

The 512,000 square foot Livermore center, located in the affluent East Bay area of San Francisco, is home to 130 leading designer and name brand outlet stores including Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH, Bloomingdale's The Outlet Store, Last Call by Neiman Marcus, Armani, Barneys New York, Coach, DKNY, Elie Tahari, Kate Spade New York, J.Crew, Lacoste, Michael Kors, Prada and Tommy Hilfiger.  The center opened in November of 2012 and is 100% leased.

Simon has assumed management responsibilities and the centers will be renamed Grand Prairie Premium Outlets® and Livermore Valley Premium Outlets®.

"We are pleased to add these two highly productive centers to our portfolio," said John R. Klein, President of Simon's Premium Outlets platform. "The projects have been very well received by merchants and shoppers, they are wonderful additions to our business, and they will be immediately accretive to our earnings."

What do you think about the name change for the new outlet mall?

Livermore Valley Premium Outlets? C'Mon Man! Sounds like a premium cut of Liver. I would think non-liver loving people will stay clear of that area. Hope the new owners rethink the name.
kajinlivca December 8, 2012 at 05:01 pm
Geez. Are they going to change the street name too?
Steve December 8, 2012 at 09:20 pm
This is just other story of the 1%ers playing monopoly with real property. How about a story of the hardworking Joe who finally paid off his home mortgage after 30 years and renamed it "i finally did it". Previous owner was the Bank in LA, new owner is Joe of Livermore.

How about you continue to make payments on your mortgage and make your own story instead of attempting to degrade business processes that occur constantly that may be over your head?
Sandy December 9, 2012 at 11:58 am
This kind of stuff happens all the time. It's business. Whatever. But that new name is NOT GOOD!!!
I never liked Paragon either. Was hoping for something more along the lines of "Santana Row"....... And was also hoping it would have looked and felt a little more like Santana Row too. If you haven't been there, it's beautiful. In San Jose. To the new owners...... For the love of peace, either keep te name as is, or come up with one better than this one! Awful!!

I sure hope that Simon, who also owns Stoneridge Mall, doesn't allow all those kiosks in, it really cheapens the entire place! I already avoid Stoneridge because of the kiosks, please don't downgrade this new property in the same way. It makes what could be an enjoyable shopping experience an awful one! I hate being accosted every 5 feet by someone who wants to straighten my hair or stick bad smelling soap in my face!

Mike S - I don't think anyone's asked for your opinion either, but you continue to post here too.

I have to quote you again. "Think before you post". Please take your own advice.

There's an interesting article on how many factory outlets sell "made for outlets" product of questionable quality. "Increasingly, merchandise is made specifically for the outlets and sold nowhere else at full price (even though it may be made by a top brand like Calvin Klein), says retail consultant Steven Dennis, who dubs the phenomenon "faux clearance."

He's too busy defending prowlers and thieves. And he'd have to actually think.
Deana December 9, 2012 at 06:17 pm
I like it. I can't tell you how many people have asked me if I've been to the new outlets in Pleasanton.
Deana December 9, 2012 at 06:19 pm
Also the outlets in gilroy have always been called gilroy outlets. I like the new name.
Analisa December 9, 2012 at 08:14 pm
Wheres the affluent area in livermore? I used to live there and I dont remember seeing Livermore as affluent.ps the new name sucks
BobG December 9, 2012 at 11:22 pm
Doesn't SImon also own Gilroy, Petaluma, and Napa?
Steve December 10, 2012 at 12:07 am
Simon says, "who cares about naming motives of the 1%'rs monopoly game we are forced to play". maybe biz best practices and branding methodologies are above your head. I'd rather read stories of average families making changes in their lives.
David December 10, 2012 at 12:25 am
The stock SPG has been a good stock to hold for the last few years and this will just get it moving ahead. This company is always buying up property. The name really does not matter but the fact they localize it is better then naming it after one of their kids????? I seen worst.
Voter with an ID December 10, 2012 at 12:56 am
Fine, Steve, go write one. I'm sure there are dozens of readers out there that would love to read the melodramatic story of your life...not.
Laura December 10, 2012 at 02:03 am
It may not be catchy or elegant, but it certainly gives kudos to Livermore and gets our name out there, which is a good thing. (I realize that some of you who posted may not live in Livermore.) It also isn't confusing, since the name is the same as where it is located; people will be less likely to forget the name or to not know where the center is. The article did request our opinions about the name (not about the outlet center in general, nor choice of news stories, etc.) I think the name makes good sense.
Steve December 10, 2012 at 02:37 am
Mr. Taubman built Stoneridge Mall then sold it to Mr. Simon. Mr. Simon now bought Paragon. Both Mr. Alfred Taubman and Mr. David Simon are successful Jewish businessmen who run in the same 1% crowd. We are just pawns in their monopoly game.
Steve December 10, 2012 at 02:47 am
David E. Simon, CEO of Simon Properties was paid $158 million in compensation last year. So keep blogging about this rich guys outlet mall. His claim to fame is he inherited Simon Properties from his successful Jewish father. Yes, they are now public but what shareholders would pay that annual compensation. It's the rich getting richer and we are so thankful for the jobs and $2 million in city tax revenue for Livermore. Write about the every day car break-inside at Paragon parking lots rather than reprint Simon Property press releases of renaming the Outlets. Thank God I'm an atheist.
Sandy December 10, 2012 at 04:02 am
Hey MikeS!!! Are you effin kidding me? Seriously dude.....do you read? This article specifically ASKS for our opinions about the new name!
Hello?!?!? McFly? Anyone home? I gave a constructiive "opinion"...... Something you seem to stray from every time I read your posts!! Put the drugs away...... You need all the brain cells you can get.
PK December 10, 2012 at 06:36 am
Livermore Premium Outlets would have been better than Livermore Valley Premium Outlets.
area man December 10, 2012 at 11:33 am
Go ahead @Steve: Just blame the Jews. That's got to be the reason why your loser and can't succeed. 1% Why don't you occupy your own ass.
Sandy December 10, 2012 at 11:37 am
Analisa...... You and mike s must be related. It doesn't say "affluent area in Livermore." It says "in the affluent East Bay area of San Francisco." Which would include our surrounding cities as well. I reside in the city of Livermore. And there ARE some affluent areas here. Not sure where you lived, but take a trip to the south side. And I would definitely consider Pleasanton an affluent area.
If you don't live here anymore, why do you care anyway? And mike s....... The mystery writer is most probably from the Simon Group. Making their own announcement. Businesses do it all the time. They're going to do what they want anyway. They really don't care what we think.
Paisley December 10, 2012 at 10:03 pm
This is the perfect example of why this state is so insane. You guys are bickering about what to name a mall, rather than bickering about how to get people into that mall. But, carry on. Personal income taxes paid to the state fell 19% in November. That sounds a lot to me like people don't have as much money.
Damn those evil corporations for trying to make it easy for out of towners to immediately identify where a mall is. Burn them. But you don't really want people to shop there anyway. Right? Why don't they just name it VANCANT?
Analisa December 11, 2012 at 02:39 am

Sandy December 11, 2012 at 03:01 am
Nope. Nerves of steel over here, sweetheart.
Living it up in my affluent city! ; ))
::thumbs up:: December 11, 2012 at 03:16 am
We should call it "should have never come to Livermore".
Karen December 11, 2012 at 04:12 am
People ask me too if they know I live out here!
livermore lovin girl December 13, 2012 at 02:02 am
the article referred to the outlets being 'located in the affluent East Bay area of San Francisco'...i think most people would agree that's an accurate description of this area...the livermore valley = danville/blackhawk, san ramon, pleasanton, livermore (yes, million $ homes here too)...

Wow, so quick to jump to conclusions and judge. Maybe T.G. BUYS the child's lunch. Every schoolRead More sells hot lunch every day. At the majority of our schools, more lunches are bought than given for free.
DeAnna Senft McDaid June 13, 2013 at 12:43 pm
The schools give us 2 options as parents. 1. Buying lunches on campus or 2. Send them with a lunch.Read More Clearly the author of this chose number 1 and the school was OUT leaving the child with NO 3rd option. Shame on that school.

A great issue! However, the rodeo is nothing but animal cruelty wrapped up as "tradition"Read More and "entertainment". Why would the animal's welfare become a concern now? Rodeo performers have been documented beating, kicking, and shocking normally docile cows and horses in chutes and holding pens. "Bucking broncos" and steers are provoked with electric prods, sharp sticks, caustic ointments, and the pinching "bucking" strap, which is what really makes them jump, they are not "wild" and "dangerous" . The cowboys earn points by spurring the bucking horse. I have seen them up close and many are bleeding. Calves, roped when running, have their necks snapped back by the lasso, often resulting in neck and back injuries, bruises, broken bones, and internal bleeding. After their short and painful "careers," animals in rodeos are sent to the slaughterhouse. Dr. C.G. Haber, a veterinarian who spent 30 years as a federal meat inspector, describes the animals discarded from rodeos for slaughter as being "so extensively bruised that the only areas in which the skin was attached [to the flesh] was the head, neck, leg, and belly. I have seen animals with six to eight ribs broken from the spine and, at times, puncturing the lungs. I have seen as much as 2 to 3 gallons of free blood accumulated under the detached skin." Every national animal protection organization opposes rodeos because of their inherent cruelty. Don't feel bad everyone, I used to love the rodeo too. Before I knew better...

Something to consider and not pushing it aside because I feel its unimportant, but what I'd love toRead More have access to is how the riders that were hurt are doing today. Two bull riders got gored, one in the back and he was down and out for a bit and then obviously not "okay" as he stumbled out of the arena and then another that got his leg hurt and he couldn't get himself over the gate on his own. Left saturday's Rodeo hoping they were okay and would love follow up if at all possible. Thanks!

Thank you! That is what we want to know too. We have had more power outages this week than in theRead More 20+ years total that we have lived in this house!
Lynn June 8, 2013 at 07:03 pm
It would be nice to know, indeed. When my husband called to report the outage the recording saidRead More there were no outages in our area, which was clearly incorrect.
AT June 9, 2013 at 06:00 pm
I got the same thing, no outages when I called. I requested to be contacted by PG&E to explainRead More the problem. No call for that but I did get a "survey" call about their automated system. We have also lived here for 20+ years and never had this many outages.
