New 24 Hour Fitness Super-Sport Club to Open in Livermore

Grand opening event to be held Saturday.

Here's information provided by 24 Hour Fitness:

24 Hour Fitness is pleased to celebrate the much-anticipated grand opening of its new location in Livermore, Calif. The 24 Hour Fitness® Livermore Super-Sport club located at 2650 Kittyhawk Road will open to the public on Saturday, Dec. 22 at 6 a.m.

To celebrate, 24 Hour Fitness invites the local community to stop by on grand opening day for complimentary VIP club tours. Beginning at 6 a.m. and throughout the day, event attendees will have the opportunity to sample several Group X® classes, including Les Mills BODYPUMP™, Step and Yoga. In addition, attending the celebration will be Livermore Mayor John Marchand. Marchand will join 24 Hour Fitness at 9 a.m. for a ribbon cutting ceremony, where he will proclaim Dec. 22 as “Healthy Livermore Day” in honor of the new club.

“The City of Livermore values businesses like 24 Hour Fitness, which encourage regular exercise and healthy living,” Mayor Marchand said. “24 Hour Fitness has served our community for the past 16 years, and we are pleased with the new, large location and expanded opportunities it will give our local residents to be active.”

To support the local community, 24 Hour Fitness will collect canned food and help distribute groceries and meals to more than 800 Tri-Valley residents for Livermore’s Open Heart Kitchen. The organization provides fresh, hot meals to the hungry – serving more than 236,000 meals each year. Additionally, those who visit the new 24 Hour Fitness Livermore Super-Sport club on grand opening day are encouraged to bring non-perishable canned food items to donate.

“This time of year can be difficult for many people and families who are underserved, homeless and struggling to make ends meet,” said Linda McKeever, executive director, Open Heart Kitchen. “The generosity of 24 Hour Fitness, along with their members and team members, will truly help people to live healthier, by feeding people from all over the Tri-Valley area who are hungry and in need this holiday season.”

Club manager LaRay Spencer, a four-year veteran of 24 Hour Fitness, will lead more than 100 team members at the Super-Sport club. It is the first of four new locations scheduled to open in the Bay Area over the next six months – an estimated $25 million investment for the health club industry leader. It spans approximately 68,500 square feet and features an array of amenities and equipment that members and guests can enjoy, including:

  • Wide variety of cardio, strength and functional training equipment
  • TRX® Suspension Training
  • Full-sized basketball court
  • Two racquetball courts
  • Personal viewing screens on select cardio equipment
  • Indoor and outdoor functional training areas
  • Dedicated Cycle and Group X rooms
  • Indoor pool
  • Whirlpool, steam room and sauna
  • Personal training service
  • Kids’ Club babysitting service for children ages six months up to 12 years to enjoy activities while their parents work out
  • Retail area offering fitness products, accessories, apparel and nutrition supplements
  • Towel service
  • And more

In addition, the 24 Hour Fitness Livermore Super-Sport club will be one of the first locations in the health club chain to offer Parisi Speed School youth athletic performance training programs. It will offer approximately 20 training classes each week - each designed to improve fundamental athletic skills, speed, quickness and self-esteem among children and teens ages seven to 17 and people of all ages. One-on-one training sessions with certified Parisi Speed School coaches will also be available.

“We are proud to reinvest in the Livermore community, having been a part of residents’ lives since 1996. Our brand new club offers our members and guests many amenities and plenty of space to help them stay motivated and achieve their fitness goals,” said Dan Benning, division president, 24 Hour Fitness. “It is an honor to have Mayor Marchand’s support as we celebrate ‘Healthy Livermore Day,’ and we look forward to helping the community reach their fitness goals as we head into the new year.”

In addition to the new 24 Hour Fitness Super-Sport club in Livermore, the Walnut Creek Super-Sport club will open at 2800 North Main Street in late January, followed by opening of the Fremont Super-Sport Club located at 4500 Auto Mall Parkway in early March. The company is also scheduled to open doors to a new Super-Sport club in Hayward later in 2013.

This is a huge building... I'm excited to see how bad ass this club is going to be!

I was excited too until I found out that even though I pay for (and have for over 10 years) an "all club/facility access" membership that I will not be able to go to this location unless I upgrade my membership. Each time I asked the front counter staff at the Railroad Avenue 24hour, they told me I had the correct membership. However, when I called customer service to verify, they told me I would have to upgrade which will almost double my current membership dues! Nice, huh? Too bad I cannot afford Lifestyles or the swim and racquet club :-(

Maybe the LVTC will feel the heat and lower their prices.
Martin Williamson III December 20, 2012 at 09:40 pm
Still cheaper than Club Sport, plus a whole boatload of new activities.
Steve December 21, 2012 at 06:41 pm
LVTC are greedy owners. Competition rules in dropping prices.

Will Railroad also stay open? Will they have hot yoga in the buff classes?

They are beautiful and you described them so well! I hope that someone steps forward quickly! (IRead More have my quota of cats already.)

It isn't up to the gov. to help raise your kids. The stork didn't drop the kid off unexpectedly. IfRead More you can't afford kids then don't have them.

Wow, so quick to jump to conclusions and judge. Maybe T.G. BUYS the child's lunch. Every schoolRead More sells hot lunch every day. At the majority of our schools, more lunches are bought than given for free.
DeAnna Senft McDaid June 13, 2013 at 12:43 pm
The schools give us 2 options as parents. 1. Buying lunches on campus or 2. Send them with a lunch.Read More Clearly the author of this chose number 1 and the school was OUT leaving the child with NO 3rd option. Shame on that school.

A great issue! However, the rodeo is nothing but animal cruelty wrapped up as "tradition"Read More and "entertainment". Why would the animal's welfare become a concern now? Rodeo performers have been documented beating, kicking, and shocking normally docile cows and horses in chutes and holding pens. "Bucking broncos" and steers are provoked with electric prods, sharp sticks, caustic ointments, and the pinching "bucking" strap, which is what really makes them jump, they are not "wild" and "dangerous" . The cowboys earn points by spurring the bucking horse. I have seen them up close and many are bleeding. Calves, roped when running, have their necks snapped back by the lasso, often resulting in neck and back injuries, bruises, broken bones, and internal bleeding. After their short and painful "careers," animals in rodeos are sent to the slaughterhouse. Dr. C.G. Haber, a veterinarian who spent 30 years as a federal meat inspector, describes the animals discarded from rodeos for slaughter as being "so extensively bruised that the only areas in which the skin was attached [to the flesh] was the head, neck, leg, and belly. I have seen animals with six to eight ribs broken from the spine and, at times, puncturing the lungs. I have seen as much as 2 to 3 gallons of free blood accumulated under the detached skin." Every national animal protection organization opposes rodeos because of their inherent cruelty. Don't feel bad everyone, I used to love the rodeo too. Before I knew better...

Something to consider and not pushing it aside because I feel its unimportant, but what I'd love toRead More have access to is how the riders that were hurt are doing today. Two bull riders got gored, one in the back and he was down and out for a bit and then obviously not "okay" as he stumbled out of the arena and then another that got his leg hurt and he couldn't get himself over the gate on his own. Left saturday's Rodeo hoping they were okay and would love follow up if at all possible. Thanks!

Thank you! That is what we want to know too. We have had more power outages this week than in theRead More 20+ years total that we have lived in this house!
Lynn June 8, 2013 at 07:03 pm
It would be nice to know, indeed. When my husband called to report the outage the recording saidRead More there were no outages in our area, which was clearly incorrect.
AT June 9, 2013 at 06:00 pm
I got the same thing, no outages when I called. I requested to be contacted by PG&E to explainRead More the problem. No call for that but I did get a "survey" call about their automated system. We have also lived here for 20+ years and never had this many outages.
