Let's Belly Dance Moves to New Home in Livermore

Sprouts & Shutters is a weekly feature, highlighting new businesses, businesses that are expanding and closed businesses.

Livermore is getting some belly dancing downtown.

Starting tonight, Let's Belly Dance belly dancing school is moving its belly dancing classes to 2nd Street.

"We have been dancing in a small studio for nearly a year, but now Valley Dance Theater have offered us their large dance hall, so we have room to expand, take on new students and learn to dance with veils," says Let's Belly Dance instructor and founder Sara Shrapnell.

Shrapnell first began dancing in 1993 and founded Let's Belly Dance in 2000. She taught belly dancing in the UK for 12 years before relocating to the Tri-Valley in 2012.  Her book on Bellydance is due to be published in 2014.

"This feels like a fresh start as we move into our new home in Livermore," Shrapnell says.

The dance school is celebrating the move with belly dance games, sweet treats and performances tonight, Oct. 11 at 7 pm. The cost is $15 at the door, bring a friend for free.

Classes begin next week and every Friday. Classes are open to anyone over the age of 18.
