Waldo — the storybook fellow in black-rimmed spectacles and wearing the red-and-white striped shirt and hat — is turning 25 years old.
And to celebrate, the elusive one is visiting 20 downtown Pleasanton businesses through the end of July.
Those who spot him — well, a cardboard figure of him — can win prizes, including buttons and books.
Players who find Waldo in participating businesses receive an "I Found Waldo" card.
Find Waldo in eight different locations and receive a Waldo button.
Find Waldo in 16 different locations, and become eligible to enter a prize drawing.
The grand prize is a complete "Waldo book set," along with other prizes, as well.
A Waldo celebration with prize drawings is planned at 11 a.m. July 31 at on Main Street, Pleasanton, for all participants.
