A few weeks ago Julia and I had the pleasure of heading over to McGrail Vineyards here in Livermore…..where else? It’s been a while since I stopped by so the visit was long overdue. It was a sunny day and it was enjoyable to walk from the parking lot to the front entrance. I felt instantly relaxed, as I got closer to the front door. As I got even closer to the entrance, I heard people laughing and talking from around the side. I peeked around the bend and noticed a full outside seating area where families and friends could sit down, relax, and stay for a spell. I spotted full bottles that groups of people were enjoying. I remember thinking this is my kind of winery, where you can taste and then stay to enjoy!
We made our way inside and were greeted with warm friendly McGrail smiles at the wine bar. Julia and I started tasting and I enjoyed several wines from their flight. I do have to say that I enjoyed the 2010 Chardonnay the most! This is a white wine for the red wine drinker. In short, made for me. It demands your attention when you try. Roasted chestnuts, vanilla, and carmelized bananas to the nose. A balanced wine, spice and fruit with a smooth finish. Don’t take my word for it. Go out to McGrail, give it a shot and let me know what you think. While you are there, take your time, slow down, and relax a bit.
If you are new to the wine tasting scene, let Bryersantís help you! You’re in luck because we have included this wine on our summer Quarterly Report wine flight at The Pour House wine bar found on 1st Street located downtown in Livermore. Swing by this Sunday at 3PM for our event launching our summer wine flight. Order a flight and we will walk you through it! There will be good food and music to help you through the flight just in case you have not done the wine tasting thing before. Hope to see you there!
