A Picnic and Opera in a Vineyard-A Relaxed Summer Evening of Music and Wine to Benefit Opera
What better way to enjoy a summer evening than picnicking in a vineyard, sipping wine and listening to opera? It is an evening of classic opera in a relaxed, casual setting nestled among the vines of Retzlaff Vineyards for Livermore Valley Opera’s 19th annual Opera in the Vineyard.
This ever-popular benefit for LVO offers a chance for the community to enjoy arias from classic operas performed by professional singers in an informal setting. It is a “bring-your-own-picnic” event where you can choose to enjoy the organically-made wines of Retzlaff Vineyards while enjoying performances by professional opera singers. In addition, the Vintage Brass Quartet, a long-time favorite of this event, will entertain guests, and Bruce Olstad, LVO’s rehearsal accompanist and assistant conductor will share his talent at the piano.

New This Year: “Bid a Song”
In addition to the performances of favorite arias and songs, guests will have the opportunity to bid on songs from a “menu of arias” for the singers to perform. A raffle drawing will add to the festivities.

Reservations and Early Bird Savings
Early bird reservations for $30 through July 24 can be made online at www.livermorevalleyopera.com or by calling the information line at (925) 960-9210. After July 24, the cost is $35 if space is still available. A sell out is anticipated. Tables for parties of eight can also be reserved in a company or family name.
Bard and Bravo Festival Weekend Package
LVO and the Livermore Shakespeare Festival have joined forces with Livermore’s wine country hotel, Hawthorne Suites by Wyndham, to offer a weekend of outdoor entertainment.
Guests of Hawthorne Suites by Wyndham will receive two tickets to Shakespeare’s Macbeth at Concannon Vineyard, two tickets to Opera in the Vineyard at Retzlaff Vineyards, and a welcome basket full of incredible deals for merchants in downtown Livermore.
