Star Trek Cast Spotted at Hooters

Patch readers share their experiences meeting cast members from the next Star Trek movie.

It's a tweet that set off a frenzy in the world of local Trekkies.

Actor Zachary Quinto, who plays Spock in the Star Trek movie series, on Saturday announced via Twitter that he was at a in northern California watching a boxing match with Simon Pegg, who plays Scotty.

Star Trek, boxing and Hooters? Ah, the life!

Yep, it's true. Livermore's national lab is playing a role in the highly-anticipated flick. We broke the news last week courtesy of .

For Livermore-resident Ashley Schneider, the news of Star Trek stars in the area was too good to be true — and pass up.

The 17-year-old Star Trek-fanatic headed over to the for a shot to see the big screen stars up close and in person. It proved to be a good move.

Schneider was able to take a picture with actor Benedict Cumberbatch, who is set to play Khan.

Chris Pine, who plays Kirk, was also there but he declined to have his picture taken, Schneider said.

"I didn't ask either Chris nor Benedict about the movie because I didn't want them to give anything away," Schneider said.

No spoilers here. You go, girl!

As for Scotty and Spock? Schneider was unable to locate them at the restaurant.

Area Trekkies who missed out on the Hooters sighting don't fret. It appears there will be other opportunities to catch the stars hanging around the Valley.

Pegg on Sunday announced that everyone must try an omelet at on Main Street in Pleasanton via his Twitter account:

We were in Dean's Cafe on Main St, Pleasanton CA. California omelet is a chili drenched must. Get some!!

Our says Cumberbatch and Quinto joined Pegg at the cafe. Other folks reported seeing cast members at the Apple store in Pleasanton and the in Dublin.

Another Patch reader told our neighbors at Pleasanton Patch that they ran into Captain Kirk, er I mean Pine, at the in downtown Pleasanton. :

Lee Ann Caldwell and her family ran into Pine, Zoe Saldana (who plays Lt. Uhura), Anton Yelchin (Ensign Chekov) and Pegg at the Rose Hotel. We are attaching a photo they took, as well as a YouTube video, where a very sweet and excited Lauren Caldwell, an student, scored a hug from Pine.

Caldwell said the actors came across as approachable, and humble.

"They didn't mind shooting the breeze with those of us less famous," she said.

Livermore Patch will keep tabs on any further local Star Trek-related news. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter. Until then, live long and prosper, Livermore!

The light bulb is back on. Ironically, it was a device that was installed to protect the bulb fromRead More power surges that failed. When the bulb was reconnected to unfiltered power, it came back on.

as well take advantage of it. What I'm talking about is a reasonable rate for charging that isRead More within going rates, not the usurious rates charged by certain companies. I always love the hundred yard heroes who hide behind a false screen name

I'm not a greenie.....the only reason we leased one is, because of the tax loophole on the taxes weRead More already pay, we have an essentially free car for a couple of years. Maybe you're just upset because you weren't smart enough to figure that out and take advantage of it. Just like everyone with their solar panels; if we're all forced to pay for it, you may
Sean McMenamin May 21, 2013 at 10:49 am
Wow. Did I say free?

Seriously? AFGAHN food? Why can't we just get a Red Lobster or something?

Rafael and his crew do great work, and not just lawn service. He replaced our sprinkler system andRead More sodded two new lawns when we moved into our house. He and his crew have trimmed trees, planted flowers, and even built a new fence and gate. All at a fair price. I can't recommend his services enough.

Thank you D! We couldn't be happier to have a program like this in our community. We couldn't agreeRead More with you more that giving back is the whole purpose of the program; to make our community a stronger more musical one for our youth!

Kevin and Chris are good guys. They genuinely want to give back and care about introducing as manyRead More kids (young and old) as possible to the incredibly rewarding world of music. I am fortunate enough to have had somebody similar to these guys motivate me to get involved in music when I was a kid. 31 years later, I am still beatin’ on my drums every day. Great job Kev and Chris. Keep it up!
