Rotary Club of Livermore Valley Announces Recipients of Spring Mini-Grants Program

The Rotary Club of Livermore Valley is proud to announce the recipients of its Spring Mini-Grants Program for local community causes.

Chrissy Booe is a special education teacher at Granada High School whose students are between 18-22 and described as “transitional.” She is trying to help them develop life skills.

One of the key program components is a garden attached to their classroom, so they were in need of a shed to put all their tools away, making the area safer, especially for those with limited mobility. The Club was happy to contribute $622.94 for the toolshed.

Keith Pickering-Walters attended the Rotary meeting on Tuesday morning to accept $1000 for a camera purchase for the Granada video production class. Keith is doing fantastic work in getting his students ready for the next step in their career in video broadcasting.

Lesa Johnson is from the Tri-Valley’s Head Start Program, the Community Association for Preschool Education (CAPE). She was present at the Livermore Valley Rotary meeting to accept a grant of $500 to build a covered sandbox. The Club will also help construct the sandbox once it arrives at the site.

These are just some of the many community causes that the Livermore Valley Rotary Club contributes to through fund raising and grants. Livermore-Valley Rotary also contributes to international projects such as assisting in the manufacturing of clean stove factories in Mexico and contributing to the eradication of polio worldwide.
